Where are we in the fight against climate change? An update from COP23
With support from Enel, the Low-Emissions Solutions Conference (LESC) was hosted by SDSN, ICLEI, and WBCSD at COP23 in Bonn. Learn more about LESC and our network member COP events and their outcomes here
SDG Index discussion in European Parliament
On 21 November, SDSN presented the SDG Index and Dashboards to the Development Committee of the European Parliament and representatives from all 28 national parliaments in the EU. The discussion focused in particular on how international spillover effects can be better integrated into the measurement of progress towards the SDGs.
Call for Lecturers and Mentors! 
Do you want to make a difference in the life of a young innovator with a future in sustainable development? SDSN Youth will soon launch the Youth Readiness Program, a 16-week accelerator that will help young solution-makers develop their entrepreneurial skills. We are currently seeking mentors and lecturers for this project. 
Award-Winner Turns Trash into Cash in Indonesia
Bintang Sejahtera Waste has won the UID-UN SDSN Sustainable Solutions for a Better World Award, an initiative of the SDSN Southeast Asia network hosted by United in Diversity (UID), for its community-based waste management system in Indonesia. 
Sustaining Peace: Partnerships for Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding
The President of the 72nd Session of the General Assembly (PGA) of the United Nations, identified peacebuilding and sustaining peace as a key priority. SDSN, in partnership with the PGA, will support this agenda with a conference on 8 December, 2017. Please see the event page for more information, to register, and for the link to the live stream.

  • Learn about human rights, climate action, preservation of our terrestrial ecosystems, and many more topics in sustainable development from the SDG Academy – all free of charge. 
  • The blog series Global and Local Perspectives Regarding Land and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) continues! Four new blogs are out now.
  • SDSN Northern Europe shares their new Solution Initiative: Sustainability Coach. The initiative is a collaboration project with Junior Achievement in Gothenburg and Stockholm.
  • The SDSN Great Lakes chair Françoise Kayitare Tengera has been appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration for the University of Rwanda. The new Acting Principal of the College of Business and Economics, Dr. Faustin Gasheja, will now head the network.
  • SDSN, with TERI University and the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), co-hosted a public lecture in New Delhi on November 13 by Leadership Council member, Klaus Leisinger on Global Values, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development
  • SDSN Leadership Council member and Special Advisor to the Special Envoy for Syria, Jan Egeland, speaks to the press following the meeting of the Humanitarian Access Task force.
  • We invite SDSN's global network to sign the 350.org petition to shut down new fossil fuel projects and look forward to a 100% renewable world. Sign up as part of SDSN here
  • Last month SDSN co-hosted the event, Climate Action and Human Wellbeing at a Crossroads: Historical Transformation or Backlash? just ahead of COP23. 
  • SDSN Spain guided a discussion on monitoring the SDGs at a regional level at a conference on regional SDG implementation in Valencia in cooperation with the SDG Local Data Action initiative of SDSN TReNDS.
  • On 2 November in Berne, soon-to-be launched SDSN Switzerland appointed the Network's Advisory Board and approved the 2018 work program with a launch date set for February.
  • Get your set of SDGs Flashcards, developed by SDSN member Gaia Education, in partnership with UNESCO Global Action Programme to explore ways to implement the SDGs in your community.
  • SDSN Partner WBCSD has released their new guide Microgrids for commercial and industrial companies that helps energy users understand how to use renewable-based microgrids.
