UN chief condemns DPR Korea's latest launch of ballistic missile
28 July – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned today's launch of a ballistic missile of possible intercontinental range by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).


INTERVIEW: Preparing for Tripoli, new UN envoy in Libya seeks to work with Libyans
28 July – Set to arrive in Libya next week, the new United Nations Special Representative said that he was coming to Tripoli to work with the Libyans, in an attempt to help find a solution out of the political crisis that led to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 and pushed the country into a crisis that sees thousands of migrants and refugees fleeing to Europe and other countries in Africa.

27 July – Citing the gradual erosion of basic democratic norms and principles in the country, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today called on the Government “to uphold the constitutionally guaranteed rights of speech and assembly.”

27 July – The United Nations Security Council today welcomed the Joint Declaration issued after a meeting between two Libyan political figures and urged all Libyans to support its calls for a negotiated political solution, national reconciliation, and an immediate ceasefire.


'None of us should stand silent' while civilians suffer in Syria, Security Council told
27 July – Despite the remarkable hope and strength shown by most Syrians, daily life remains dangerous for millions of people across the country, a senior United Nations aid official warned today, calling for the parties to the six year conflict to stop targeting of civilians, to allow humanitarian access, and to end the “horrific” practice of besiegement.

Burundi: UN envoy reiterates inclusive dialogue, regional support to political process
26 July – The United Nations Special Envoy to Burundi today urged African leaders, in solidarity with the UN, to support an inclusive dialogue between the Government and the opposition in a country where political upheaval has resulted in insecurity since April 2015.

26 July – Secretary-General António Guterres and the United Nations Security Council have condemned yesterday's killing of two peacekeepers in the Central African Republic's (CAR) south-eastern city of Bangassou.

25 July – The United Nations envoy on Middle East peace has warned that developments over the past 11 days at holy sites in the Old City in Jerusalem have demonstrated the “grave risk” that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could become a religious conflict that could ultimately engulf the rest of the region.
