It has been over a month since Camila Cinalli, a 15-year-old girl from San Miguel del Monte, Argentina, disappeared. While her parents and the authorities continue to search desperately, the media is focusing on the country’s upcoming presidential election, only a few days away. Sadly, evidence suggests that Camila’s disappearance is likely Argentina’s latest case of trafficking for sexual exploitation. Camila is one of the more than 77,300 people estimated to be trapped in modern slavery in Argentina.2 Demand support and justice for victims of sexual exploitation.
The Argentinian government says that it has a National Action Plan in place to help identify and assist survivors of sex trafficking and other forms of gender-based violence. The current President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, has even spoken about how progressive and innovative the National Action Plan is at the United Nations and on other global stages, but the document has never been published or officially released.3
Take action now to help end trafficking for sexual exploitation in Argentina.
While there are laws to protect women and girls against gender-based violence in Argentina, a National Action Plan would do more to help girls like Camila. A strong National Action Plan will make it easier to identify victims, provide the assistance they need and outline measures to prevent sex trafficking.
Now, as the presidential electoins approaches, your voice is needed more than ever to show Argentina that protecting young girls like Camila needs to be a priority. We know that if the National Action Plan is implemented, women and girls will be better protected from modern slavery and have access to the resources they need.
Call on the Argentinian government to publish its Plan to tackle trafficking for sexual exploitation and other forms of violence against women.
In solidarity,
Maru, Alex, Joanna and the rest of the Walk Free Team
Argentina reported this in its report to the MESECVI, the UN Beijing +20 report, the country report to the CEDAW Committee (January, 2013), the UN UPE (August, 2012). Also, in the report to UNDP-UN Women (2013).

Walk Free is a movement of people everywhere, fighting to end one of the world's greatest evils: Modern slavery.
